Program at a Glance
This online computational science certificate is designed to complement your graduate studies. Courses combine foundational coursework with electives in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and engineering. You can also customize your learning around your academic interests while developing valuable expertise in scientific computing and applied problem-solving.
Why Texas A&M University?
A Texas A&M degree doesn’t just carry prestige—it carries power. As one of the nation’s top-ranked public universities and a Tier 1 research institution, Texas A&M offers online learners a rare combination: academic excellence, lifelong career support, and a global community that opens doors long after graduation.
Major Coursework
The Graduate Certificate in Computational Technology & Science brings together computational mathematics, statistics, and engineering to help students analyze complex systems and develop data-driven solutions. Choose one core course and three electives, including at least one outside your home department, to build a foundation in computational mathematics methods while exploring subjects relevant to your field. A capstone project provides an opportunity to apply your knowledge to a research challenge.
To be awarded the certificate, you must successfully complete:
- One Core Course (3–4 credits)
MATH 609 (Numerical Analysis) or STAT 604 (Topics in Statistical Computations) - Three Approved Electives (9 credits) - Note: At least one elective must be taken outside of your home department.
- At least one elective must come from outside your home department.
- A Capstone Project — Important: Your project topic must be formally proposed to and approved by the ISC after you are admitted to the certificate program. Projects completed or coursework used as a project prior to formal admission will not be accepted.
